Title aside, there’s nothing sleepy about this toe-tapping musical. Fresh from a successful London engagement, singer Melinda Howard (Doris Day) returns home to visit her mother, a former Broadway star who’s hit the skids. But thanks to the skillful manipulations of a benevolent millionaire producer, Melinda is kept in the dark about mom’s ignoble decline. Gene Nelson co-stars as the hoofer who sweeps the heroine off her feet.
