Father O’Banion (William Holden) is in China on a mission of goodwill; he’s slated to replace the priest (Clifton Webb) already stationed there and take over the church he helped establish. But his first few days quickly turn from a welcome to a nightmare, when Communists, led by a conflicted soldier, invade the sanctuary and reclaim it for their own use.
